Jehovah’s Witnesses and their Flip-Flopping

Jehovahs Witnesses Flip Flopping BeliefsHearing the phrase “God provides us light at the proper time”, never gets old, well, not with me anyway.

I’ll explain.

If you are the most powerful being in all the known universe, you would be expected to get things right. If you decided to select a religion on Earth in which to channel your communication through, you would make sure that they completely got your message right, before publishing any literature relating to your words.

So, it makes me laugh, when I see the following:

Watchtower July 1879 p8
States that the men of Sodom WILL be resurrected

Watchtower 6/1/1952 p338
The men of Sodom WILL NOT be resurrected

Watchtower 8/1/1965 p479
The men of Sodom WILL be resurrected

Watchtower 6/1/1988 p31
The men of Sodom WILL NOT be resurrected

You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth (Book published by the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society in 1982)
The men of Sodom WILL be resurrected

You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth (Secondary Edition, published by the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society in 1989)
The men of Sodom WILL NOT be resurrected

As I said earlier, if you were the most powerful being in the universe, you wouldn’t allow such mistakes to happen, would you? I don’t know about you, but I can draw only two conclusions from this:

  1. The Governing Body are not God’s channel of communication on Earth.
  2. God is forgetful.

These aren’t the only flip-flops of “New Light” either. There are many. The real question in all of this is, Why call it “New Light”? For example, in the above references, there are only two notable versions of New Light.

  1. Watchtower July 1879 p8 – States that the men of Sodom WILL be resurrected.
  2. Watchtower 6/1/1952 p338 – The men of Sodom WILL NOT be resurrected.

By reiterating either one of the above two statements AFTER the 1952 Watchtower article as New Light, the Governing Body are fooling themselves, but more importantly, the millions of members that grasp onto any teachings they report.

Got any good Flip-Flopping stories you want to share?
